Ghislain Cormier, the lead for Strategic Partnerships for Kaneshii Vinyl of PEI and co-owner, made a successful pitch to the provincial Francophone economic development council of P.E.I., a partner of the Acadian Chamber of Commerce. The result was an additional $10,000 in funding, membership in the Chamber and some professional web site help.
As noted in an interview with Rob Rice of Kaneshii, this new vinyl pressing company will fill a gap in eastern Canada. Given that the funds are coming from the Francophone Economic Development Council, this should be a signal that Kaneshii will be a supporter of music and musicians in the Francophone community.
This award is also great recognition for Viryl Technologies, the company that manufactures the presses that Kaneshii will be using to produce more than a million vinyl records annually.
While Kaneshii is still getting ready for full production, this is expected in April of 2017.
